Response to Pecha Kucha

The Pecha Kucha I watched was called Brown M&M’s. The presenter was the head of the Chicago Writer’s Conference (Mare Swallow). She knew how to speak to the crowd, and she had a lot of examples to explain what she was talking about. The title of the presentation really drew me in because who would honestly do a presentation on brown M&M's? The presenter made me not what to be a failure, because she isn’t afraid to not hire you or tell it like it is.

The presenter cursed a lot in her presentation. A lot of people wouldn’t care because the presentation was for an adult audience, but sometimes cursing in a presentation is very unprofessional. It was a distraction for me to focus on the presentation when she did curse. The presentation was put together really well, and it addressed information that could be really helpful for people, so why the need to be explicit?

I noticed that the presentation was really relatable. Swallow pulled up directions on how to send a resume attached to an e-mail. She pointed out the M&M's (which were the most important parts of the e-mail) which lots of people failed to do. She then pulled up e-mails that were sent to her that addressed her as a man or not sending documents in PDF form.

I think Pecha Kucha could be an interesting way to present a presentation. I don’t know if I would like to do it myself for this presentation. I like using Prezi or Powerpoint because they are programs I’ve used before and understand how to use. I’ll probably talk Noah into doing a Prezi because you can put creative templates to a topic, and make it look really interesting.

With Noah and my presentation I think we’ll be able to fill all 20 slides. I have a lot of information on forensic psychology, and he has a lot on abnormal psychology. Our first few slides are about psychology as a whole and then I’ll split up and talk about forensic and then he’ll conclude our presentation with abnormal.
